prior to burning:
1. trim the wick: before each burn, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. this helps prevent soot and ensures a clean, even burn. use a wick trimmer or scissors.
2. check for debris: make sure your candle is free of any debris like matches or wick trimmings.
3. choose the right spot: place your candle on a heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, vents, fans, and any objects. while burning
first burn:

1. let the wax melt across the entire surface during the first burn to prevent tunneling and promote an even burn. this can take 2-4 hours, so get comfy!
2. don't burn too long: avoid burning candles for more than 4 hours at a time. this keeps the wick from "mushrooming" and creating soot.
3. burn within sight: never leave a burning candle unattended.
4. always extinguish it when you leave the room or before bed.
5. avoid moving a lit candle: to prevent hot wax spills, don't move a candle while it's burning or while the wax is still liquid.
after burning:

1. extinguish properly: use a candle snuffer or wick dipper to prevent hot wax splatter.
2. allow to cool: let the candle cool completely before relighting. this helps the wax reset for a clean burn next time.
3. store correctly: keep candles in a cool, dark place to maintain their fragrance and integrity.
pro tips:

1. monitor wick length: keep the wick trimmed to about 1/4 inch before each use to ensure a clean, even burn and prevent smoking.
2. avoid drafts: keep candles away from windows, fans, and air currents to prevent uneven burning and excessive smoking. 3. clean the jar: clean the inside of the glass to remove soot and ensure the best light and appearance.
4. mind the container: stop burning your candle when about 1/2 inch of wax remains to prevent potential heat damage to the surface below.
5. handle with care: be cautious with candles containing crystals - keep these items away from the wick to avoid fire hazards.
